Understanding and preventing workplace aggression and violence

According to Safe Work Australia, more than one million Australians experience workplace aggression or violence each year. These behaviours range from verbal abuse and threats to harassment and physical assault, yet many incidents are never reported.

Most organisations understand their legal and moral responsibility to protect their people. However, many workers remain silent. Some do not recognise certain behaviours as unacceptable. Others are unsure whether reporting will lead to meaningful change. For some, exposure to aggression has become so routine that it is seen as simply part of the job.
